Best HRV app for daily tracking

This app is the best HRV app for daily HRV measurement for training and general health. Lots of cool features comparing various aspects of physical well being with your HR data. Its regularly updated with useful changes every time. Thanks guys!

Very accurate, most used tool for Cycling

I have had every single iphone from day one, $$$ spent on apps and this is the first review I have bothered writing. It has helped my training which I take very seriously. No more guess work. First thing I do every morning. Thank you for developing it. Looking forward for more of your work. I tried the other HRV apps and they are childish compared to this one. You MUST try it.

Great app from a passionate developer

Great way to track your HRV without the need for additional hardware. If you doubt that it is possible to get accurate HRV data using your phones camera, then definitely check out the authors blog where he dives deep into the science, and demonstrates his methodology and reasoning. Usage requires only 1 minute every morning, and the data pays off as you collect more and the app is able to compile more insights. Data is also exportable if you want to do your own analysis. While there are a few ui quirks, I am still confident in giving it 5 stars, due to the developers consistent improvement of the app over the years, and responsive customer support and blog.

Great training tool

This is an awesome, easy to use tool to help plan training. Use it to train around my shift work schedule. Takes into account not only training but fatigue from working long night shifts.

The best HRV app for iOS

Fantastic app. The go-to HRV app in my opinion. Works flawlessly. Constant development and updates show how much work Marco puts into this! Well worth the money.

Absolutely amazing!

These capabilities are being sold for hundreds of dollars by other third parties as isolated applications. This app is absolutely brilliant and works flawlessly. The integrations with Strava and other apps are a amazing. In addition to an amazing app, the web site and author a a wealth of knowledge. Their support is unparalleled! Any serious or recreational athlete will benefit tremendously from this app.

Doesnt work, just failed to start

Last version under iOS 9.2.1 failed to start.

Great app!

Besides its obvious features, I noticed that the developers really strive to polish and improve their app. Many apps rarely receive updates, or just make "cosmetic" changes.

Bugged

The app crashes when I select HF or LF. Please fix it!

Best HRV app

Best camera-based HRV app out there. Tons of functionality and updated very frequently. Very active developer always responds quickly to any questions. Would like to see the Coca pulse test added (as found in another popular HRV app) but that’s the only thing missing.

Great app

Best one to track Hrv. Works well without chest strap- using iPhone camera. Developer constantly updating and refining the app.

A professional level app for training

I have an exercise physiology background and have been a cyclist for 30+ years. This app and its developer are serious, and the app’s utility really reflects that. This isn’t a “consumer” grade app that is meant to wow you with silly infographics. Rather, it’s designed for people who are interested in learning about how their heart reacts to training, and to regularly monitor it and learn from the data this app reveals. The developer regularly updates the site and publishes scientific papers about the research that she does on the topic of HRV. There is a bit of a learning curve to use it, but it’s interesting info to learn. The app itself is well designed despite it’s rather no frills nature.

The Best HRV App

This is the best HRV app available. Through their research and tweaking they allow you to take the reading using either the camera or a Bluetooth heart rate strap. The developer is always looking to make the app better. Highly recommend HRv4Training.

Great app I use every day

this is a terrific app from a wonderful developer. It’s been fascinating to watch as my hrv numbers trend over time and they absolutely correlate with how my body is feeling, whether I’m feeling strong and ready to rock or fighting something off and needing to rest and recover and avoid overtraining. It’s simple and accurate and works great with just the thumb on the camera and not needing the hassle of a chest strap. The developer is very responsive and answers questions quickly, and the app is constantly and actively enhanced. Highly recommended.

Great job Marco!

Ive tried almost every HRV app I can get my hands on in the App Store. This is on my short list of go to apps for giving valuable information about your parasympathetic nervous system activity over time. I love it. My only complaints are that the reminders are buggy, turning vibration "off" doesnt really turn it off, and I would like more contrast in the colors on the breath pacer.

Camera mode too fickle

I wanted to see if I could measure HRV without expensive sensors so I tried this app. It detects my heart rate fairly accurately for almost a minute and then it starts to jump wildly, often 50 beats above what its supposed to be. I guess Ill have to try the app again when I finally do get a sensor since it seems the camera mode lacks accuracy.

Useless

Crashes right at the end every time I try to do a test. Waste of money.

High initial friction

Im not pleased to use this app I now need to create an account. I personally dont find the accumulated data collected is worth saving/syncing if I delete the app.

Best HRV App!

Measuring HRV can be a super helpful thing to get into for anyone athletic out there looking to improve/evaluate themselves and their training. This app takes all the guesswork and complication out of it...with all the complex stats and features still available for nerds like me. Camera measurements are pretty accurate (keep them short though...holding the phone can actually raise your heart rate a teeny bit). The only gripe I have is that sometimes youll get random +40 bpm spikes, and it will ruin your test. I plan on getting the Polar monitor (only about $40 on amazon) soon so my tests will be much more accurate. All in all if you want to measure HRV...shell out the couple bucks for this app, and dont bother with anything else. Its all you need...and all youll want once you start analyzing your own data.

Solid HRV Application

I have been using this application now for the last month. It surpasses the two other HRV applications that I tried. Things that really standout: 1) Easy to use 2) Actionable advice 3) The creator has spent a great amount of effort to educate users through his blog However, what I really love is you can download your data in raw form straight to excel for your own analysis. You should own your data and this app lets you while others do not. I highly recommend HRV4Training (and the blog/website that goes along with it). After I have used it longer (6+ months as opposed to 1 month) I will return to update my review. Until then, download it, use it and train/recover smarter.
